As part of the changes to the NHS brought about by the Health and Social Care Act 2012, Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) and Strategic Health Authorities (SHAs) ceased to exist on 31 March 2013. Their responsibilities were taken over by Clinical Commissioning Groups and the NHS Trust Development Authority.

If you are not registered with a dentist you can call the Dental Helpline on 0845 050 8345. The helpline is open from 8.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. You may be offered an urgent appointment and NHS charges and exemptions will apply to your treatment.
If you are not registered with a dentist calling the helpline will give you access to the Evening/Weekend Emergency Dental Service. You can contact this service on 0845 050 8345 during the following times:
You may be offered advice on how to manage your pain or, in certain circumstances, offered an appointment to be seen for urgent treatment at an emergency dental clinic. NHS charges and exemptions will apply to your treatment.
